Well, I think you know enough about this hell hole

It's that time again kids, the end of the semester. Yep! You've earned another semester recap from Pete Phillips chronicling the events of the past few months. And what a few months it's been, eh boys and girls?

Reading & Writing the Personal Essay - MWF 11:00 AM - Dr. Joe Kraus:
Initially I signed up for Writing the Personal Essay, but I found out soon enough that this class was lots of reading too. It was my first and earliest class on MWF's, but sometimes it was still too early for me. Joe's always cool though. I appreciated this one, of two classes, with Jamilyn Counterman who would provide me with a plethora of fun time harassment and laugh at me when I said/did stupid things (I was sure to return the favor). In addition website visitors like Abigail Meyers and Leslie Martin were in company with one Jimmy DeJoseph took to calling me "sexy Pete" quite often. Thank you Jimmy. I don't know if Joe found my site yet, but if ya did, welcome. I wrote three essays in this class and got to listen to a lot of people talk. I don't know if my position as a listener/observer was valuable to the class, but I did it nonetheless.

Early American Literature - MW 2:00 PM - Dr. Laurie Sterling:
Dr. Sterling surely rules. I appreciated her attempts to make Early American Literature interesting, but I must say that the period died in my heart many many years before Dr. Sterling came along (thanks to a scary and abusive English teacher from Absegami whose name rhymes with Mrs. Geunther). Dr. Sterling paid tribute to me on the last day of class by recalling a few of my heckles throughout the semester. That lady's got a great sense of humor and I'm glad she didn't hold me responsible for any of my actions. Also, this class was made exciting by the always friendly spirit of Diane Lucas, who tolerated my distractions very nicely if I may say so. BJ Heckner also supported random outbursts and putting forth claims that had no connection to anything actual. BJ himself made a "out of the closet" connection in one book that seemed to be a bit off, but we'll let him have it for taking up some minutes of class. If you're reading, thanks Dr. Sterling, for letting me misbehave in a class--I haven't done that since eighth grade!

Introduction to Photography - T 11:00 AM - Mr. Ned Rowan:
Ned was cool. Though his class and projects took up a whole lotta' time and energy and raised my stress level to infinite proportions, I found it to be one more thing I'll probably have to face in the real world... grumble, grumble. There were some good times in Photography though. I got to learn how to use things with Kate Cahill, then learn how to make my hands stink for hours with photo chemicals with Amy Fedele, then I learned how to open my heart and let love inside. Okay, maybe not the lat one, but I'm confident in saying that throughout the rest of my life I may never hear the words "shutter" and "aperture" as many times as I did in this class.

Bioethics - TTh 12:30 PM - Dr. Joel Shuman:
Dr. Shuman rules. I want everyone to know that, as if I haven't told you in person already. Bioethics was a pretty cool class. I'm a Mass Communications major, so one might think that Bioethics would be useless to me, but I found it to be quite interesting. For one, we discussed some interesting ways to view medicine, research, and other moral concerns. In addition--it was Doc Shuman! C'mon! He's awesome. Armed with sharp wit and more intelligence than you can muster, Doc Shuman can take the dry-erase board by storm with Latin and other words you may not understand. But once his Southern drawl takes to the air you'll know what everything means, and you won't forget like with other teachers. So next time you're picking classes, sign up for Dr. Shuman-- you won't be disappointed!
PS--Kyle Maza's daily comments about life and everything else were always top-notch--keep up the good work!

Mass Communications Law - W 6:00 PM - Atty. Shiptoski:
No, I don't think he has a first name. Either way, Atty. Shiptoski was a cool teacher. He made some great jokes to keep people awake during his 2.5 hour lectures. I learned about all sorts of stuff I do illegally on this site, like libel about Kyle, copyright infringement on photographer's pictures, and many more. Surely it's too late to fix everything, but it's all in the past right (wouldn't it be great if that was an acceptable legal defense?). Joining me for my Law escapades was Katie Gross & Stacy Preambo (my tentative practicum group for senior year), Katie Chandler (who gets 'big ups' for her help in Photography), and all the other Mass Comm regulars like Matt Harm, Steve Alfano, Rob Anderson, Stephanie Youngs, Stephanie Panko, and more. All in all the classes that were magically cut short were fun for everyone, and the ones that weren't really tested my bladder. 'Til next semester guys...

Residence - Luksic Hall - Jackson Street, Wilkes-Barre:
Vomitous rage. You've heard about this place enough here, here, here, and here. If that's not enough, come and sleep over. The titillating sensation of roaches will send you into a horrifyingly dizzy coma.

Media Services - 6th Floor Hafey Marian - Sam Falbo:
Always the best place to work. Whether it be the nightly antics of Sarah Quinn, the positive spin on any day from Sam Falbo, the bending over backwards for no appreciation from the main man, or borrowing digital cameras to make this site better, Media Services is always the place to be. Only thing missing from Media Services is Venos & Scott....

That about sums up most of this semester (ie. I got tired of writing), so stay tuned for next semester because I'll have more Communications classes, thereby having more people to join my cast of players. "Dance puppets."
