Remember that Thing from Back Then?

So I was roaming around on MySpace the other day and I found some girl who had this giant list of shit compiled. She wanted you to copy and paste it then put stars next to the stuff you remembered. I thought that was stupid because you could remember lots of things, but not actually remember what they were about. And what's a star do? How about a sentence or something? Well I decided to do just that. A thought per item. Instead of having "unstarred" items though, I just deleted them.

Fresh Prince of Bel-Air- Yeah, I watched it, and I can't stand Will Smith anymore. He should've skipped acting and faded into musical obscurity.

Fraggle Rock- ...and I can still recite the theme, in beats and words. Try me.

G.I. Joe- Of course I remember GI Joe. It's the source of 70% of my twin-joke repertoire.

Are You Afraid of the Dark?- I got into this right before they took it off the air. Not cool. I was a kid much like I am today-- I don't like to like the things that everyone else likes, but sometimes the things that everyone likes are pretty good, so I discover it later.

Nightmare Before Christmas- It took me 'til college to see this movie. I don't wanna talk about it. No, it wasn't the movie that was traumatizing, it was watching it.

The Muppet Show- I grew up with the reruns man-- why do you think I'm such a fan of puppets, comedy, and mediocre celebrities? Harry Belafonte all the way!

Muppet Babies- They were so much lamer than the real Muppets. Also, they never had parents. That was a rough deal.

Eureka's Castle- This was like American Idol is for fans of real music; you watch it and hate every minute, but you watch it nonetheless.

Salute Your Shorts- Shorts on a flagpole. Donkeylips!

You Can't Do That On Television- They did. I'm all about that purple, bright background too. A true gem. "I don't know!"

Double Dare- Lots of slime and silly antics. It didn't do it for me.

Rocko's Modern Life- I still love this show, but I think it's my mind hyping it because I don't remember much, except Spunky's dog treats. Excellent after school show.

All That- Was far less than "all that." This show was crap because puberty-aged kids aren't funny.

Ren and Stimpy- Hated it.

Clarissa Explains It All- Snooty bitch.

Goodburger- AMAZING cinematic effort. I still seek the DVD (at a reasonable price).

Angry Beavers- Almost as awful as CatDog

Hey Arnold!- Still one of the coolest cartoon kids ever

AAH! Real Monsters- I really liked this show. It was all me, dark images, dark humor, bright colors.

Tiny Toons- Who didn't love this show?! I still have the Gameboy game.

Animaniacs- Don't toy with me. This saved the afternoons when Tiny Toons went flat. Exceptional show.

Pinky and the Brain- One of the most disappointing spin-offs I remember. I really thought they could pull it off, but they lost me when it was all them for a half-hour. Remember how the WB tried to make it a prime time show too? Pathetic.

The Babysitter's Club- I read all the books and saw the movie like six times. I'm kidding. My sister liked it though, so I remember it.

SNICK- The 'S' stands for Sucks.

Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego?- Are you kidding me? This was the absolute best. Not only did it popularize Rockapella for a generation, but it made you think and watch TV. Best childhood reason to watch PBS.

Nick Magazine- Some people paid more for more Nick stuff?

The Goonies- That's like putting The Godfather on a list of movies called "Remember that Movie?"

Ernest Movies- I only remember these because Greg loved them.

Homeward Bound- So cutely crappy it was hard to choose which won.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit?- I couldn't watch this whole movie without crying for a while because of Christopher Lloyd's eyes popping out like ping-pong balls. Hey, I'm opening myself up to you here.

The Secret Garden- Hated this one too. Sooooooooo long and sooooo boring.

Pete's Dragon- That's why Melody calls me Peeeeeetey.

Hocus Pocus- One of the few films I've seen with Bette Midler and one of the many reasons not to see more.

Land Before Time- Remember that bratty little dinosaur? I hated her. I really wanted her to die before they made it to the Great Valley.

Dinosaurs- Best dinosaur puppet animatronic show of all time. WAY ahead of it's time. "Not the mama!" Ha! Still brings bellows of laughter from the pit of my stomach!

Fern Gully- Brought awareness of the plight of rainforests to 5-year-olds around the world. That's when they banded together and did something about it, and why the whole world has safe rainforests now.

Gummi Bears- Another theme song that I can repeat word for word. I don't think I liked it too much, but that tune is catchy.

My Little Pony- I had one. One. So I could play with my sister. And it was a boy.

Sorry!- One of my favorite board games. Probably because no one else wanted to take the time to understand it.

Trouble- Popping dice. Still makes me gitty.

Mousetrap- ...takes an hour to setup and ten seconds to play.

Jenga- Sometimes it's fun to get frustrated, that's why there's Jenga.

Hungry Hungry Hippos- A fun, but useless game. Obviously a woman compiled this list because a guy would've written about Crossfire by now.

Polly Pocket- Little woman who lives in your pocket. Still creepy.

Lite Brite- I had one as a hand-me-down from my rich cousin. Was pretty fun from what I remember.

Beanie Babies- I bought some to re-sell. I never did. I wonder where they are now? Who knows?

Tamagotchies- Stupidest thing ever. A digital pet for the kid who can kill real ones. And you could kill the digital one too.

Yo-Yos- I have one, but it got me no where. I wasn't buying the expensive stuff. It was all because my school decided it would be good to have a yo-yo team come in for a show or something. They spent the next three months taking away yo-yos from kids in school.

Choose Your Own Adventure- I read them, I cheated and went back. We all did.

Pogs- I knew that one was a fad. Still ridiculous to think of. stacking cardboard then knocking it over. Philistines.

Goosebumps- I only liked one.

TGIF on ABC- Every family watched it-- but no one watched Meego. No one.

Eerie Indiana- LOVED this show because I never got to finish watching it. I still don't know what happened in most episodes. It was like an X-Files for kids. It rules.

Jonathan Taylor Thomas- See, a chick wrote this.

Home Improvement- Ulch.

Tom and Huck- Isn't this all covered under JTT?

Kenan and Kel- They're better apart.

Inspector Gadget- I didn't like Inspector Gadget, he was a total moron. And Penny was so straight-laced and uptight that she made me mad too. The crowing jewel: Brain, the dog.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles- Still enjoy it. I don't even hate the newer show version either.

Power Rangers- I resisted for a very long time, but I gave in right before it became uncool. I was a lucky one. One kid in school thought it was real.

Well that's all I'm writing. I think it was too much to begin with. I hope I may have struck a memory chord in your mind, and you enjoyed my memories too. Remember, not a word about that My Little Pony to anyone!
