A Picture Tour of Wilkes-Barre

Ok, so maybe I did steal this idea from Venos, but it wasn't on purpose. For one, making a website is hard and finding the subject matter is the worst part. Since both of us lived in this place, and the images are so hypnotizing, it's only a matter of time before anyone with a website around here does a picture tour. Anyway, enough explanation, read on...

One more lucky citizen grabbing a bus out of town. Is he holding a beach bag? Is beach bag even an accepted term? Anyway... The bus system seems to be a town favorite in the ol' W-B. This picture is from the Public Square, or for all you Southern New Jersey natives, it's a traffic circle with lights.... Pennsylvanian wusses... live a little.
Ahh, the local "gentlemen's club." If you're ever in the area, I won't go here with you, but now you'll at least know what it looks like.
Oh, and by the way... yes, the strip joint's sign says
parking in rear... priceless.
This could be art for all I know, but I see a picture of trash. I actually took this shot because of the shopping cart, if you must know. This is what many sidewalks look like in Wilkes-Barre. If anything, the streets make you appreciate your ability to keep a clean room.
Another empty storefront. Wilkes-Barre's full of these. Kristen Wenrich recently wrote an article about this topic in the Crown. Apparently people do want to move into these stores and grab up the dwellings of countless local homeless people.... entrepreneurial bastards.
outside of the city we call this a "mine cave in"
...and this is a fenced off hole. they don't get too creative with the names. This fence has been up for more than 5 weeks.
oh the irony...
I haven't shopped here, but any one of you visitors wanna take a walk downtown, IM me immediately. While I'm sure the owner wanted to play off of the phrase "plucked from obscurity," he/she instead succeeded in making me laugh.
